Mid-Winter Ski Trip to the Pocono Mountains
Arriving at our Mount Pocono hotel at 11:45, Mike, originator of the ski trip idea, removed his suitcase from the SUV and walked across the parking lot amid the icicle-like temperatures. Glancing at me with some responsibility and guilt, he cracked the silence, saying, "Okay. You can get your revenge some day by planning a beach trip on a hotter-than-hell day!" I would have smiled, but my mouth had been too frozen to make the movement.

Best Ski Resorts in North America
2010 is a year that has always been surrounded by hype and yes, hope - even before 2009 turned out to be the harshest year we've seen in three generations. When we were kids, the science fiction authors had us thinking we'd be skiing on the moon by now, and while those weird indoor ski hills in Japan are pretty close, we're not quite there yet. But that doesn't mean there hasn't been plenty of hype surrounding this milestone year and the first ski season of this most futuristic decade.

Personalities in Progress - A Ski Story
Crossing the New Jersey-Pennsylvania state line at the Delaware Water Gap, I paralleled the muddy-appearing Delaware River near the Appalachian Trail, the interstate narrowing to two lanes and shallowly ascending into the brown-treed, gray shale rock-covered Pocono Mountains. The slender, finger-like white patterns representing the still-snow-covered ski trails of Camelback Mountain were now visible through the left car window. As the miles rolled by, I thought of the past two ski trips, trips which had been highlighted--perhaps "warped" is the better word--by the personalities of my group.
